Finding Spring and Summer Baby Clothes to Fit Every Size

Posted by admin on 26 Aug 2010 | Tagged as: Attire, Children Fun, Shopping Tips + More

With spring coming soon and summer not far behind, if you are a parent of a newborn or a toddler you are probably thinking about getting the baby some clothes to suit the season. There are a lot of decisions to be made when doing this as babies grow so quickly in their first year and many places tend to have the ‘one size fits all’ approach with regards to baby clothes. But just like grown ups babies come in all different shapes and sizes so you need the appropriate gear!

It is recommended to only get a few things at a time and when baby looks like theyre about to outgrow those purchase some more. This will not just help your finances, but will also prevent you from having loads of useless baby clothes lying around.

First and foremost on your mind must be your babys comfort and ease particularly as that will stop them getting cranky. The material of the clothes ought to be something that allows air to get to the baby’s skin so it can breath, something thats maybe high in cotton that doesnt irritate your baby’s skin. Your babys clothes will likely take some punishment with vomiting, crawling, cleaning and spilling so they must be durable.

Heres some advice that’s mainly for the comfort of the parents. Buy baby clothes that have those special metal snap buttons instead of the normal buttons. They make it easier and quicker to open and close the baby’s clothing. This really is fantastic if youre in a hurry or if baby is agitated. Snaps make nappy changes much simpler by providing you with easier access. Especially those cold changes when you want to hurry and get baby back into some warm clothes.

You may want to think about purchasing one pieces over sets when buying baby clothes. A set includes two pieces a top along with skirt or pants. The bottom part of the outfit is generally held up by an elastic band round the babys stomach. This could result in discomfort, particularly after eating. A one-piece outfit however is normally roomy, allowing for the tummy growth with no discomfort. Babies have a tendency to take off their socks and toss them on the floor as they crawl away. However with a one piece that features footies those problems will be solved.

Purchasing clothes for babies that use non-disposable nappies need not be complicated. First you need to consider the size of your baby along with the nappy, what clothes will be best for dealing with the nappy and exactly what non disposable nappies would be better for the baby. As far as size goes get clothes that are slightly larger than the baby requires. In cases like this two-piece sets are a better idea than one pieces. To determine what non-disposable nappies are best, you should try out several and figure out which ones are right for you and your baby.

Where Should You Go to to Buy the Safest Toddler Car Seats

Posted by admin on 25 Feb 2010 | Tagged as: Children Fun

Let’s talk about car seats and how they can protect kids. Although studying reviews is the best way to start, the child car seat market comprises so many diverse brands and styles, and there are so many rules and regulations to absorb it’s often overwhelming. First of many steps in using those car seat ratings and reviews to find your ideal safety seat involves becoming familiar with the various styles. Graco, Cosco, Disney — these and similar brands produce high-quality seats targeting children of up to 12 months or 20 pounds. Some seats are capable of facing forward, however, the majority are exclusively intended to face the rear — something worth keeping in mind when buying. As an added benefit you’ll find the best child car seats can also be used as convenient baby carriers, meaning there’s no longer any need to wake baby when transporting him from or to the car.

A convertible car style will last for longer before you need to replace it. Useful throughout the age bracket during which children need these seats, the higher price they go for is due to their being useful as long as they’re called for. You’ll find, however, that convertible chairs don’t make such good baby carriers. Each chair is different, even within their categories, and it’s here that reviews and review web sites are most useful when they highlight all the features of each chair, helping you to identify the best combination on offer to you. Make your decision secure in the knowledge that these reviews are unbiased. As your son grows, he may rely on a booster seat while they weigh between roughly thirty to eighty pounds. It’ll be the adaptation of the car’s integral safety belt or the five-point harness: booster seats secure in two possible ways and either may give your little one greater comfort, so the sensible thing to do is to actually determine how each feels before your purchase. As the reviews will again tell you, the majority of these chairs provide an integral means of occupying your toddler during a journey.

Car Seating Reliability Reviews and How to Deal with them

Rules and regulations, brands, styles — your path to child seats for your car is less simple as one might hope. Let’s help you by taking you through several points, beginning by discussing the different styles.

Cosco, Graco, Safety 1st, Disney; brands like these make top quality chairs targeting babies of up to twenty pounds or twelve months. Some seats are capable of facing forward, but the majority are entirely intended to face the rear — something to remember when buying. Several of the better chairs double as baby carriers, meaning it’s easier to move from car to house without your child waking.

The time your children will need safety chairs is not long, but it is still more than a year. A convertible chair costs a little more but will last the entire time. As any review will reveal, generally these chairs aren’t designed to be carried outside the vehicle.

They can’t all be considered equal, however. Car chair reviews are the simplest method of gaining a comprehension of just what the models have to offer not to mention which features are the most helpful. Also reviews like these have the advantage of being third party and have no reason to mislead you concerning a chair’s quality. Once they’ve outgrown the twenty pounds mark, a baby still needs a car chair until around eighty pounds — which is where the booster seat comes in. At this age, your children have a part to play in the selection process — if you let them test both major categories (divided by the method of keeping the child safe, using either the car’s own safety belt or a five-point harness) and see which is more comfortable. You’ll notice with the convertible safety chair reviews, booster seats often come with assorted extras designed to make travelling easier by keeping the child occupied.

Your budget, the needs of your family, the life you lead — these are all concerns that need to be taken into account before buying any chair, and we can only hope that this article has made it quicker and easier. The smart parent pays careful attention to reviews — they are beyond doubt the very best information resource available anywhere.

Toys and Teaching : A Look at Educational Toys

Posted by admin on 28 Jun 2009 | Tagged as: Children Fun, Education Info

Everybody wants their little ones to grow up with a good education to give them not only a great working life, but also to hand them a great understanding of how the world operates . Thing is, there seems to be this permanent battle of taking your minors from their toys or the TV to force them to get on with their homework. In schoolhouses it would seem that the fun is withdrawn from studying, so it’s little surprise youngsters find themselves bored. It doesn’t have to be that way though. Rather than this inessential detachment of studying and having fun, it’s far more effective to merge playing and studying and make learning fun again.

Youngsters learn much more when they either visualize a pragmatic function as to why they’re studying a particular lesson, OR if learning is simply fun.

For example: give the youngsters 26 cubes, representing 26 letters of the alphabet. After that, tell them to build a tower from the blocks that spells a particular word. They’re having fun and attempting to make building block columns not fall over while learning to spell.

These days, it’s now widely understood that once you build the groundwork for a certain subject (e.g. music), kids are more likely to become interested in it later on in life. If you just sit them down, face them toward a chalkboard, and then ask them to listen to the instructor waffling on, you’re more likely to encourage daydreaming than learning.

What kind of playthings should you buy your kids? Nowadays there’s a massive array of toys. Remember that kids have fun playing with practically anything, even a cardboard box! So anything from games for children to computer games, as long as the emphasis is on learning and helping your children to become more inquisitive (which promotes self-learning).

Getting Babies to Move

Posted by admin on 14 Dec 2008 | Tagged as: Children Fun, Info

So once the baby starts to grab their little feet, and notice that they have hands, its time for you to start encouraging them to discover their body. One of the things that helped our little one out in this department is these little bracelet rattles that attach with Velcro. We have this little rattle that looks like a little bug, or bee, and we strap it to her ankles. When ever she moves her ankles the rattle rings and the wings have that crinkle stuff in them that babies like so much. So, naturally she goes for there feet every time she moves. Eventually she will get a hold on her feet, and put them straight into their mouth. This is perfectly normal and also a healthy way for them to discover their body. We also put them on her wrists, when she waves her arms, again the rattles make some noise, and she will use the other arm to try to get the thing off. Its really fun to watch the baby play with her body and try to pull the rattle off. This exercise will help in their hand eye coordination, agility and flexibility, and also the fine motor skills.

The best labor tips for an expectant mother are listed below. These tips are all based on relaxation. You will see why this is so important for your body. I hope you will find these labor tips for your natural childbirth helpful.
RELAXATION

Relaxation is one of the most helpful techniques for pain relief. Let your body do what it is supposed to do. While your uterus is contracting, relax the rest of your body so your energy isn’t working against you. Relaxation is something that should be practiced throughout your pregnancy. There are several different ways to do this. Working with your labor partner throughout your pregnancy to find out what works for you. For me, it was to have my husband stroke my hair. For someone else is may be massage. It’s funny to think that relaxing is a SKILL. The following are some suggestions to try for relaxing.

* Massage

* bathing or showering

* listening to music

* deep breathing

* meditation

* Yoga poses

* visualization

MASSAGE

Massage is a wonderful labor tip. Having your partner give you a massage not only relaxes you but it also gives your partner a chance to be a part of the labor process. It promotes closeness and intimacy. And also, as I said above, relaxing takes practice, so that means that you’ll also have to practice massage. You need to find out what works for you and what relaxes you. And heck, asking for practice massage is a good way for you to get a massage every week or so? Good idea huh gals?

Bathing or Showering

Bathing is an obvious labor tip. I shouldn’t need to explain how wonderful a bath feels even if your aren’t in labor. Just having the feeling of the water on your body is an instant massage. I have to say that taking a shower was the best way for me to deal with my labor pain. I just didn’t ever want to get out of the shower.

Music

Music can be such a relaxing medium. It can take you to another plane of consciousness. It can also evoke such memories and choosing the right music that puts you in the place of total relaxation is a powerful feeling.
This is something too, that should be practiced throughout your pregnancy. Experiment with different types of music and see what mood it puts you in. Try something new, you may be surprised. Another benefit of doing this is that having music surround you that comforts you during your pregnancy will make you a happier and more content pregnant woman. And we all know that a happy preggers makes for a happy baby. Your little one can also benefit from the tunes.

Deep Breathing

An often overlooked labor tip, breathing, is something that also needs practiced often during your pregnancy. Deep breathing can do wonders for a stressed out or nervous mom in labor. In Yoga it is called Pranayama breathing. This type of breathing can be detrimental in pain relief. Breathing correctly or concentrating on your breathing will help oxygenate your blood which in turn oxygenates the baby. I think this is such an important tool to use.

Meditation

Meditation is a deep form of relaxation. Being able to be still and concentrate on positive images instead of dwelling on pain can not only help with pain relief but can also help you along in your labor. For you,the laboring mom, to be able to be totally relaxed and to have a grip and feeling on what your body is doing and feeling can only speed up labor and have the body do what it knows how to do. Letting your mind relax and give your body the chance to do the work. Meditation can be anything from just sitting in a quiet room with peaceful thoughts, listening to soothing music, practicing the Pranayama breathing, or actually doing yoga. There are aids out there to help you practice meditating.

Yoga Poses

Practicing yoga during pregnancy can give you the tools you need to help with pain relief during labor. As stated above, the breathing techniques are of high value and if you have done yoga in the past you know the feeling you get right after your practice. You have a feeling of peace and inner strength. One of the most important poses to do during pregnancy is the cat or the Bidalasana pose. A variation of this pose is similar to the pelvic rock exercise. This position is so important because of the benefits to your body which in turn, benefit your baby. This exercise relieves pressure on the lower back and increases circulation and can improve digestion. But most important, is that this position gives the baby the most room for movement and can sometimes help in repositioning the baby from a breech position. This pose is also very helpful in labor. This pose was one that helped me the most. This pose is done by getting down on your hands and knees, knees spread shoulder width. Now, arch your back and then release, tilting your pelvis while doing this.
During labor, just being in this position can help the pain, this position was very helpful to me during my labor.

Visualization

Visualization is a form of meditation. This should be practiced often as should all of these forms of relaxation. Try to pull out a memory of something positive, run this story over and over through your mind. Make this memory a trigger for you feeling peaceful and centered. you are getting very sleepy, you are getting very sleepy….OK Just wanted to make sure I still had ya ;) Think about the first time you met your partner and the things that made you get those butterflies… think about your favorite vacation when you were truly relaxed and content. maybe picture how you will feel when that precious little life is handed to you for the very first time.

1st Birthday Party Planning

Posted by admin on 03 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: Children Fun

The very first birthday in a child’s life is probably the most special and the biggest celebration during childhood. It’s been the year with the most changes. They’ve gone from sleeping through most of the day to playing right through the afternoon. They’ve gone from bottles to cups. And they’ve gone from crawling to walking. A party of this magnitude deserves plenty of planning and thought put into it.

For invitations, pick a theme you would like to use for the party. Winnie the Pooh is a very popular choice for younger children. Or you could pick something that is cute and whimsical like a ladybug or a butterfly theme. Bring the party back to nature by setting the party up outside or at a park. Make sure to buy lots of film and break out the video camera for this memorable occasion.

Save all of the cards you receive from guests and place them in a book along with the pictures. Your little one will enjoy being able to look back at their first birthday and see all of the people who were there to witness the first fistfuls of cake.

Even though your child is too young to do some of the party games, you can still provide things to do for your guests. Plan on getting a pull string piata for your child’s first birthday party that will match your theme. A one year old child can handle this easy to do party game. Only use toys you would allow a one year old child to have as treasures for the piata. Leave out small pieces of candy or small toys. Or you might have guests who are old enough to enjoy a hearty piata. In which case, there would be nothing wrong with supplying two piatas. By keeping smaller children away from this activity, older children can have their fun and be rewarded with tasty treats.

Identical Twins

Posted by admin on 28 May 2008 | Tagged as: Children Fun

Twins are two people who have shared the same womb at the same time. They may also have come from the same egg. Twin births are becoming more and more common due to several factors such as increasing use of fertility treatments, child births at an older age, and even genetic factors. Women who are slightly above-average in build are also likely to have multiple births or twins. Certain ethnic groups are also found to have a greater twin population. One in every 250 births in the world could be an identical twin birth.
Identical twins are also known as monozygotic twins. They are from a single egg that forms a single zygote that splits into two embryos. Two fetuses emerge from the two embryos in the same womb. The exact reason for this splitting hasn’t been identified yet. Sometimes, identical twins also share the same amniotic fluid, making them monoamniotic. Otherwise, they are diamniotic. Twins sharing the same placenta are monochorionic. Those who don’t are dichorionic. This happens only in the case of identical twins. All monoamniotic twins are also monochorionic. This depends on the stage at which the zygote divides. Twinning at the earliest stages would result in diamniotic and dichorionic twins. Twinning that occurs four to eight days after fertilization and eight to twelve days after fertilization results in monochorionic-diamniotic and monochorionic-monoamniotic, respectively. Twinning twelve days post-fertilization may result in conjoined twins. Conjoined twins are attached to each other at some place. They may be more dependent on each other physically.
Since identical twins share the same sac, amniotic fluid, and placenta, there could be some complications in pregnancy. These could be a result of the entanglement of the umbilical cords or twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome because of the shared placenta. This may cause one or both the babies to be underdeveloped.
Identical twins are generally of the same sex. They have identical DNA and shared genes. They may be very similar to each other, almost like mirror images. Some twins can be told apart only by their fingerprints, teeth, handwriting, or any other intricate observations. However, they have individually different personalities and character traits. Twins are generally emotionally attached to each other and are also believed to live longer because of this attachment. Some people even believe that identical twins have their own language through which only the two of them can communicate. Some identical twins are also mirror twinsthey are exact mirror images of each other. About one-fourth of all identical twins are mirror twins. Sometimes, one mirror twin may have a condition where some or all the internal body organs will be on the opposite side of the body. However, these are considered to be birth defects and are extremely rare.
