Some of us just haven’t been lucky enough to have perfect credit scores, and some of us have been unluckier than others when it comes to credit. However, all’s not lost. Did you know there are ways to increase your scores? When you know all these little “how to’s” you can sometimes increase your credit scores by 100 points.

A lot of people think that paying off old, delinquent accounts will improve their credit, and the collection agencies certainly want you to keep thinking so. But paying a charge off or a lien after it’s over two years old can actually hurt your credit score. Although a charge-off will severely affect your credit, the software that scores your credit looks at the last activity on the credit report to determine what effect it will have on your score. The collection agency will update your report as “Paid Collection” whenever you pay off the account, making the software pick it up as “current”. If you’re going to pay off an old account, the best way is to insist that the collection agency send you a letter that they will delete the account from your credit if you pay it. Some collection agencies will and some won’t, but it will increase your score and is definitely worth the effort.

Past due amounts, however, will totally destroy your score. Any amount in the past-due column on your credit report needs to be paid, or, if it’s not owed, contact the creditor and get them to take the amount off. In fact, I would suggest that you pay off any past due amounts before paying a collection agency once your account has reached the charge off stage. Then the software can’t pick up any past due amounts. You can call your creditors that have reported late payments, and ask them to remove the late payments in “good faith”, but remember politeness is the key. If you’re antagonistic toward them, they won’t lift a finger to help you, and you want your credit score to increase.

If your credit limit is not being reported, make sure the credit bureau has that information, because an account being reported with no limit gets scored as though the account is at its maximum amount. And, furthermore, the software will penalize you even more when your balance exceeds various percentage levels of your limit on credit cards. These levels are at 30%, 50%, and 70% of your credit limit. If you can, bring your balances below the 30% level for the maximum benefit, and you get a higher score when you have all your cards below the 30%, 50%, or 70% mark, rather than to have a zero balance on two cards and one card over the 70%.

And, last, but not least, don’t close any credit card accounts, unless you absolutely have to. Leave them paid off, but open, and use them about once every 6 months. You are scored on the percentage of credit available versus the amount owed. When you close an account, it increases your debt ratio which will decrease your score, because it reports as having less credit available with the same amount of debt as before you closed the account. If you have too many department store cards, you can close the newest ones and leave the older cards open, because the older cards show a long history of credit, because 15% of the credit score is determine by the age of the file.

So don’t let your “less than perfect” credit get you down. There are ways to overcome bad credit.

Select File > New. Give your file a name, and enter the size.

Set the resolution to 300 pixels/inch, set the mode to CMYK and the contents to White. Click OK.

Ensure you have the page rulers showing, View > Show Rulers. Ensure your rulers are set to cm, Edit > Preferences > Units and Rulers. Now click and drag the guides from the ruler bars.

For business cards set the guides to 3mm, 6mm, 51mm and 54mm vertically and 3mm, 6mm, 89mm and 92mm horizontally. For post cards set the guides to 1.5mm, 4.5mm, 103.5mm and 106.5mm vertically and 1.5mm, 4.5mm, 147mm and 150mm horizontally.

You are now ready to create your design within this template.

Please note, nothing should extend to the outside edge of the document other than items that bleed off the edge of your cards.

The first guide line 3mm (business cards), (1.5mm postcards) is where the cards will be cut and you should try to keep all your text and images within the inner line 6mm (business cards), (4.5mm postcards) to avoid the possibility of anything being ‘clipped’.

Avoid scaling up images, if an imported image is too small scaling up will reduce the resolution and therefore the quality.

When you are happy with your design, save the file as an Adobe Photoshop (.psd) file, this is your back up in case you need to make alterations at any time in the future. This file cannot be uploaded.

Save the artwork

Flatten any layers you may have (Layer > Flatten Image).

Select File > Save As and Choose Photoshop EPS(.eps) Set the preview to None, Encoding to Binary and uncheck all the boxes. Your file is now ready to be supplied for printing.

So it isn’t any wonder that if we base our own walk upon those same actions of love nothing can destroy marriage.

Many marriages are unhappy because they are wishy-washy; full of unprincipled actions and desires, mixed with unmet emotional needs that aren’t and can’t be met, all because the marriage is based upon the foundation of self. Many couples stumble into marriage not knowing or caring what their responsibilities and purpose for the marriage are. But these are the things we need to figure out for ourselves so we can walk the love walk.

Marital issues will not get the attention they deserve when couples do not apply the proper foundation to get the matter resolved appropriately. Therefore, more problems arise, resentment ensues, hearts become hardened and divorce settles in. At this point, the grass can seem greener on the other side of the fence. But is it? No! It’s only a mirage.

A typical scenario of a self-based marriage goes something like this. Couples wonder around aimlessly to find contentment, and some sort of direction to stabilize their chaotic lifestyle. Something is missing from their life and the more they try and sponge the missing pieces off their spouse, the more that spouse feels confined, confused and empty.

Marriage needs giving of each other, not sponging off of each other. When we constantly only want to get rather than give, we are literally pulling the life out of our spouse.

After awhile, neither spouse will get the love they so desperately need, and eventually one or both will seek outside influences to fill their emptiness. Whether through infidelity, over-eating, pornography, drinking, negative emotions, etc. But these things pull couples even further away from each other emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically.

I encourage you to think about and do those things that you can do for the marriage that will pull you closer to one another. Working on ourselves is the first step towards being a loving and giving person.

Ask yourself. What do I value about myself? Is it my job? My career? My looks? My house? What about valuing yourself as a child of God and then working on being that person? Ask yourself? What do I really need for myself to make me happy? Attention from others, love from others, food, drugs, alcohol, another spouse?

No, these things don’t make us happy and content! These things control and overpower the person we are. Don’t you see? We put so much trust in these material and physical possessions and feelings, and then use them for anchors when times are tough. What has God made for us? What anchors can we apply into our marriage that is made by God?

The Rock of Love is a living and beautiful part of our walk in life, if we so accept it. Everything else is dead. Ask yourself. What do I believe in for my marriage? Divorce? Infidelity? Trust? Respect? Commitment? Do I believe in what I see in the world to be right for my marriage? What is my real purpose for my marriage? What responsibilities and duties does God want me to fulfill for my marriage?

If you are a Child of God, then choosing to love God first would and should be your first priority, which is taking care of yourself! Then you can finally go back and walk the love walk with the person you married.
