The Myth Behind Maternity Insurance

Posted by admin on 24 Dec 2008 | Tagged as: Hall Of Insurance

Maternity is a period between conception and birth of the child. For most women and their partners alike, this period is filled with anticipation and excitement as they await the coming of their new baby. But this period can be quite burdensome too to the couple, especially to the mother. Aside from physical and emotional burden they experience, and lifestyle changes they have to deal with, the couple is faced with financial burden as well. Vitamins, maternity clothes, check ups and the baby’s stuff are only few of the things they must spend for. To aid expectant mothers get through this very important stage in her life, insurance companies provide assistance through maternity insurance plans.

A maternity insurance provides financial security to women who are in the pregnancy period. This is especially helpful to middle-income mothers who may not be able to pay for high costs of pregnancy and childbirth all at once. It helps them cut maternity costs and allows them to avail of appropriate health care, services and medication they and their child need. There may be some medical assistance programs that also help cut expenses during pregnancy but they are not enough while a maternity insurance covers more maternity expenses.

In the event of any complication that may cause the mother or the baby to stay in the hospital for a longer time and may require an operation or other medical services, the couple can count on the maternity insurance. For instance, if the baby is premature, he or she would have to spend weeks or even months in an incubator. Expenses incurred during the period of incubation may not be covered by existing medical plan but unexpected expenses brought by these eventualities may be covered by maternity insurance plans.

Getting a maternity insurance is one of the best ways one can take care of her baby even when he or she is not yet born. Financial security allows the mother to get the best prenatal care that shall ensure that the baby develops normally. Furthermore, with the help of a dependable maternity insurance company, the couple can eliminate worries on how to pay for pregnancy and childbirth expenses. Going through the maternity period without these worries but instead, with the right attitude and disposition, ensures that the mother can give birth to a child that is physically, mentally and emotionally healthy.

With all the risks involved in pregnancy and childbirth, getting a maternity insurance is a life-saving decision. It helps an expectant mother get through her life’s most crucial moment with security and hope. Moreover, maternity insurance is payable in easy installments so she and her husband can surely have more peace of mind. However, it is important to be extra careful in purchasing maternity insurance plan. If you are planning to get maternity insurance, make sure to get it only from a reliable insurance provider to prevent problems in the long run. It would be best to shop around first to know where to get the best maternity insurance policy that shall benefit you and your baby.

Credit Card Tips

Posted by admin on 24 Dec 2008 | Tagged as: Mathematics Parlor

Here are some useful credit card tips for you to consider before applying for a credit card. Before applying for a credit card, you should decide why you want one, and make sure you can use it wisely.

More and more people use plastic as their main means of paying for goods and services. Today our entire financial system relies on credit. Credit cards can help to make your life that little bit easier- you can use it to pay for goods or services, either over the phone, online or over the counter.

A credit card makes it easy to buy something now and pay for it later. It’s much safer to use a credit card than to carry around cash. If you lose your credit card, you can ask your credit card company to cancel your card, and no one else can use it. But if you lose cash, your money is lost.

Credit cards are also convenient. You can use them to make hotel, car rental and other reservations. You can buy items over the phone or online. You can also use credit cards for emergencies, like unexpected car repairs, when you don’t have the cash to cover the expenses.

A credit card allows the cardholder to borrow as much money (up to their credit limit) as they like, when and where they like, without having to get permission from their bank manager.

All credit cards have finance charges for not paying your balance in full each month, but you could save a lot of money by shopping around for the credit card that offers you the best terms.

Shop for a card with an interest free period that gives you enough time to pay your bills on time without charging you interest. Credit cards with no interest free period start charging you fees as soon as you buy something on your credit card.

Finally, using a credit card gives you a credit history, which helps to get home loans and other credit in the future.

The Top 5 Home Security System Components

Posted by admin on 24 Dec 2008 | Tagged as: University of Security

Advancing technology is making more and more sophisticated home security equipment available to the average person to help them keep their home and family safe and secure. There are a lot of choices to make when setting up a good home security system plan, and here are some of the top security system components that should be considered as you do:

1. Having a basic alarm system that is triggered when someone opens an outside door or window is a great start, but there are ways for experienced burglars to get around such a system. So a very good secondary line of defense in case of a break-in is having motion detectors installed in every room of the home. They can be located in one of the ceiling corners so they are not obtrusive and can have a good view of the entire room. If you are way from home, these are great tools to detect a home intrusion because of the motion inside the house and sound the alarm as needed.

2. Alarm system monitoring services are another significant upgrade to the standard home alarm system. A monitoring service will be connected to your alarm by phone line and if the alarm is triggered they will first attempt to contact you as the homeowner on a predetermined phone number to be sure that the alarm has not been accidentally set off. If they cannot get you they call the local law enforcement to investigate the situation.

3. Adding video cameras to your home alarm system is another great upgrade that can keep you well-informed on all that is going on outside your home at all times. Surveillance video cameras have become so small and durable that they can now be placed outside the home at the most important spots and even be equipped with motion detectors that will sense when movement is taking place in it’s protected area. It can then notify you if you are home or just turn on a video recorder to capture the activity if you are absent.

4. A home safe is another valuable home security component. If for some reason thieves do manage to get past all of your security system defenses, a home safe can thwart all their efforts. Burglars do not want to spend a lot of time inside a home as every minute that they are inside increases the possibility that they can be detected and apprehended for their crime. A well placed and solidly installed home safe makes all the hard work and effort that they will have to go through to get into it much harder to justify, and so often prevents the theft of your most valuable possessions.

5. Including other monitoring systems along with your home security system can be very valuable for peace of mind too. Often companies can hook in a fire alarm system to the main alarm too, and if the fire alarm is triggered the appropriate fire station will be notified. Personal and medical alarms can be integrated this way too and that can be especially valuable for those with severe health problems and the elderly who live alone.

Considering these home security components when you either buy or upgrade your existing home security system can enhance your overall home security plans.

Bryan Ellis comments on Virtual Real Estate Investing

Posted by admin on 23 Dec 2008 | Tagged as: Doing Business, Marketers Center, Real Estate Profits

A relatively new concept in the online world is “Virtual Real Estate Investing“. There are many variations on what this term means, encompassing everything from using the internet to aid in real estate investing efforts to participating in online games such as SecondLife.

To get the facts, I sought out the man generally considered to be the father of virtual real estate investing: Bryan Ellis.

Ellis says he adopted the term “virtual real estate investing” sometime before Y2K after he realized that making money online is conceptually very similar to making money with physical real estate.

An example of the similar nature of “virtual” and “physical” real estate Bryan Ellis likes to point out is the methods of making a profit from domain names compared to physical real estate. He points out that control of a domain name or even a specific web page is much like controlling a real estate property ” those assets can be monetized in similar ways: By selling them for a profit, by leasing them, by offering advertising, etc.

I must admit: Its easy to see the parallels. For example, if you’re the owner of a desirable property, its desirability is (in a business context) largely due to its being in a location that is of interest to others. Similarly, ownership of a desirable domain name is valuable for the same reasons. So it doesn’t matter if you own physical real estate or virtual real estate – you’ll likely use similar strategies to turn them into money in your pocket.

In our next installment of this series on virtual real estate investing., Bryan Ellis will share the internet analogies to the physical concept of real estate development.

How to Calibrate a Pedometer

Posted by admin on 22 Dec 2008 | Tagged as: Shopping Tips + More

There are literally hundreds of pedometers on the market, and while many will do all
sorts of things, some of which have nothing to do with walking or running, they all
are designed to do at least one thing: measure how many steps you have taken and
use that to compute how far you have traveled. If all you are interested in is how
many steps you have taken, then clip that pedometer to your belt and start walking.
But if you want to know how far you have walked or run in a day, or a week, then
you must give the pedometer some information about yourself. Specifically, the
pedometer must know the length of your stride. This article will tell you how to
gauge that length to properly calibrate your pedometer.

First, a caveat: your stride length will vary considerably during your routine
depending on certain factors. For example, your stride length will be longer when
you are running than it is when you are walking. Your stride is likely to be shorter
when going uphill as opposed to walking on a level surface. Walking with a group
of people may cause you to move at different speeds and at different stride lengths
as you compensate for the movement of your partners. Walking a dog will give you
strides that go from very short to very long depending on the whims of your dog,
but that is for a different time. So, one of the steps will be to compensate for these
differences, if necessary.

Okay, let’s begin the calibration process. You will need some place where you can
measure out a distance of about 60 to 70 feet (18.3 to 21.3 meters). The sidewalk
in front of your home is good, or a large parking lot or school yard. And you will
need a measuring device such as a 100′ tape measure. You should plan on
measuring at least four stride lengths: normal walk, brisk or fast walk, jog, and run.
The procedure will be that same for all of these.

Select a starting point and mark it; then walk normally for ten paces and mark the
end. Measure the length with the tape measure and record the result. Divide the
result by twelve to give you the number of inches in each step. Repeat this
procedure for a brisk walk, a jog and a run. For all of these you might want to begin
a few paces behind the starting point that you established earlier so that you are
moving at the proper speed for that stride for all ten steps.

If you know that you will be walking, and just walking, at a regular pace during your
routine, then you can just use the stride length for walking that you calculated.
Read the instructions for entering that information into your pedometer.

If, however, you will be walking part of the time combined with running or jogging
then you will have to use an average of the measurements that you took of all of
these strides. Simply add the totals that you calculated and divide by four, or the
number of strides that you measured. This gives you a number that is less than
your running stride, but longer than your walking stride.

Some pedometers will give you the option of entering a stride length for both
walking and running, but this means that you will have to tell the pedometer when
you are walking and when you are running. That seems like a lot of trouble to go to
if you do both of those things during your regular routine. So, we will make an
adjustment for that.

There is one more step to complete in this process. Drive your car along your
regular path to determine the correct distance of that path. Then walk the same
path using your pedometer. If the pedometer gives you a distance significantly
longer or shorter than that which your car’s odometer registered then you will have
to adjust the stride length that you entered into your pedometer. If you are
registering a a distance that is longer than that measured with your car, then you
must reenter a stride length a few inches shorter. Similarly, if the distance
measured by your pedometer is shorter than your car’s odometer, then add a few
inches to the stride length.

Once you have done this over the course of a few days, then you will have a result
which will give you a pretty good measurement of the distance traveled during your
routine. You can use this information as a great motivator as you walk or run
further in your daily routine. Now that you have properly set up your pedometer,
clip it to your belt and start walking!

George Barnett walks daily and wears a pedometer every time he leaves for his walk.

Wedding Traditions – Stand the Test of Time

Posted by admin on 21 Dec 2008 | Tagged as: School of Relationships

Wedding Traditions:

Over time many wedding traditions and customs have evolved and endured. Everything, from the veil, rice, flowers and old shoes to the walk-on-the-isle, at one time bore a very specific and vitally significant meaning. Today, as the modern bride and groom prepare for the big day the most enduring traditions to consider are those that are based in wishing the wedding couple the blessings of health, happiness and prosperity in their new life together. As the couple convey their feelings for one another in the presence of close family and friends, whatever the tradition, all share the essential symbols of unity and love.

The Wedding Day:

The colors have been chosen, the shoes and gown have been fitted, the music is ready and the photographer is booked. Is it any wonder that the bride and groom are longing for the honeymoon when they finally arive at the big day. Traditionally, on the day everyone will want to look their very best. Remember those wonderful wedding photo’s are forever. According to tradition, it is considered bad luck for the bride to be seen by the groom before the ceremony. In the ancient marriage tradition the couple rarely saw each other at all. As a matter of fact, the courtship or engagement period is a very modern custom.

The Honeymoon:

In ancient times, many of the first marriages were by capture not by choice. When early man felt it was time to take a bride, he would often carry off an unwilling female to a secret place where her relatives wouldn’t find them. While the moon went through all its phases (about 30 days)they hid from the searchers and consumed a brew made from honey. Hence, we get the word, honeymoon. So whether the honeymoon is in a beautiful, exotic beach destination or a more cosy location close to home, the honeymoon is the time to enjoy private time. The memories of these priceless days when you have each others complete attention are not to be underestimated.

Vegetable of the Month Club

Posted by admin on 18 Dec 2008 | Tagged as: Online Nutrition Resources

We should eat more vegetables. But knowing doesn’t translate into doing.

So let’s keep it simple. How can we get more of those wonderful veggies into our wonderful bodies?

Adopt a vegetable of the week or month. Experts say it take us that long to form a habit.

Start with an easy vegetable, say the carrot.

Consider the carrot’s statistics: Carrots are crunchy like potato chips, but without the salt. And you definitely can’t “inhale” an entire bag of carrots like you can with chips because carrots fill you up much sooner! That’s a good thing, right?

Next time you’re at the grocery store, buy a bag of carrots. Try the bite-size baby ones. No prep time!

When you get home, divide the big bag into smaller, sandwich-size bags and put them in the refrigerator. Take one with you to work each day. Need a snack? Reach for a carrot bag.

Then progress to other veggies–cucumbers, spinach, cauliflower.

Sure, you’ll have to get creative with some of them. A little dip goes a long way toward making some vegetables more palatable.

Got a salad shooter? Haul it out, dust it off, and run broccoli, zucchini, and spinach through it. Any vegetable will do. A food processor works, too, just put the appliance in a spot where you can use it easily on a regular basis.

Once you’ve shredded or julienned your vegetables, add a couple spoonfuls of your favorite dressing and you’ve got a tasty salad. Throw in some mandarin oranges or a diced apple for a little sweetness and zip. Chopped nuts or sunflower seeds add extra flavor.

Be sure not to go overboard with the salad dressing. A couple spoonfuls should coat all of your vegetables.

Eat a vegetable salad every day for a month and see how good you feel!

Try some shredded veggies in a sandwich and decrease the amount of meat.

Do you need to consume the vegetables in their raw state? No, not at all. Cooking enhances the nutrition of many vegetables, including carrots, and often aids digestion.

So why not cook up a delicious, nutritious pot of vegetable soup. Great news for the culinary-challenged: Making delicious vegetable soup doesn’t require “Iron Chef” status. Just add the vegetables of your choice, some seasoning, and water, then let it simmer.

Traditional soup vegetables include onions, carrots, and potatoes, but experiment with different, more exotic varieties.

Put the soup in a crock pot or slow cooker in the morning and come home to a delicious supper.

Add a small amount of beef or chicken for flavor if you prefer, maybe an ounce or two.

Leftovers make a quick, nutritious lunch the day next. Pack in a thermos to take with you and skip the cholesterol burger and fat fries.

Start your own Veggie of the Month Club. It’ll be a healthy tradition!

Wills and Trusts

Posted by admin on 15 Dec 2008 | Tagged as: House Of Legal Resources

When a person makes a will, he specifies what happens to his possessions and assets when he dies. A trust provides an entity for owning and managing assets. It is created when a trust maker transfers part of his assets to another person or corporation called trustee, which controls the assets. The trustee also helps in managing and distributing assets to beneficiaries.

There are five types of trusts. Discretionary trust is the most common form of trust. In this trust, any investment or distribution of funds is at the sole discretion of the trustees. They also provide investment of the trust funds and its distributions to beneficiaries. The trustor generally provides trustees with a letter of wishes. It informs trustees the manner in which he wishes the trust assets were to be dealt during his lifetime and after his death. The trustor could also amend this letter at any time in future.

A protective trust is one where the beneficiary has a life interest. It may become a discretionary trust if certain events like bankruptcy of the beneficiary take place.

Fixed interest trust defines the interest that each beneficiary can have and trustees may not vary these constraints. An accumulation and maintenance trust is a gift of assets usually where beneficiaries are the testator’s children. The right to participate in accumulated income from the trust depends upon beneficiary attaining a certain age. Purpose trust does not have beneficiaries and is established to achieve a specific purpose.

A trust can be intervivos or testamentary. The former implies that the trust is made during one’s lifetime while the latter is prepared after death. A trust may also be revocable or irrevocable. If it is revocable, the trustor reserves the right to modify or even cancel the trust. He could even remove or substitute property as long as he is alive. An irrevocable trust means it cannot be changed once established. In addition, the trustor, who is bound by the terms of his trust, cannot recover property assigned to the trust.
